"And so, the wellness cult marches on, selling detoxes and dreams, while Americans pile on pounds and hope, two things far too abundant for comfort. In a world where fewer bites and sharper minds are the future, perhaps it’s time we left the buffet behind for a single, well-chosen plate; and watched the wellness bitches scramble for relevance."

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
"Yes—the truth is staring at us but for most there is an inability to see it because our minds have been so brainwashed that we can’t sadly identify the issues. You are strong enough to see this through and to speak some sense in this crazy and phony society."
— Roberta Trzebiniski, Certified Pilates Teacher and Golfer
“Joan Breibart, delivers a whimsical, controversial and clever message on the phony aspects of the diet industry and the use of words that have no real definition such as, “Healthy” and “Wellness.” In some chapters it seems to take a serious side, but most of the time she is witty and direct to prove her point with facts and data. Enjoy!”
— Frances Zappella, Pilates Instructor
"You take a simple, common sense approach to everything in life. Imagine that - the last bastion of sense.
As I’m reading this book, I’m laughing. You are a treasure. You’re absolutely right about everything! We’re exhausted from having to monitor what we say and how we say things, lest we offend someone and have to wait months to find out what went wrong, because everyone is so passive aggressive and simultaneously can’t stop talking about their feelings, and can’t talk to someone about their feelings. It’s insane.
I have 210lbs to lose. I have tried every diet, as you can imagine that the heaviest people are often the most nutritionally informed, but that obviously doesn’t help. And knowing how much I actually need to weigh with the HAMWI helps so much more than the weird range of BMI. I just want to know my target!
You once talked about the Queen, and how she remained roughly the same size throughout her whole life. This was a revelation to me, as I’m surrounded by people whose weight fluctuates wildly throughout their lives. It’s something for me to look forward to. I am also looking forward to becoming an 80Biter!"

“This book is such a wild, refreshing take on the wellness industry. Joan Breibart pulls no punches, calling out all the fake health trends and money-grabbing fads that have taken over. It’s sharp, funny, witty. If you’re over all the wellness noise and want someone to just tell it like it is, this is the book for you.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Joan Breibart, founder of the PhysicalMind Institute in 1991, revolutionized the fitness world by popularizing Pilates. Following in Joe’s footsteps she holds 11 patents for Pilates and fitness products that help the body. Joan created the first Pilates certification program and a series of pioneering instructional materials, leading the early BodyMind fitness movement.
At 83 Joan has seen the diet and exercise industry go through multiple rebrandings. It’s latest iteration “Wellness”, she argues, does more harm than good.
